An 18-member Afghan parliamentary delegation called on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, here on Tuesday. Welcoming the delegation, the Prime Minister said that exchange of delegations between Pakistan and Afghanistan will enhance trust and understanding between the people of two countries and also help promote bilateral relations.

Referring to the recent visit of Salahuddin Rabbani, Chairman of the High Peace Council and Foreign Minister Zalmai Rassoul, the Prime Minister said that "he was pleased that the relations are on the right direction." Assuring the delegation that Pakistan is all-out for peace and stability in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister said, "We are neighbours, we have to live together and our generations will have to live together."

Senator Abdul Wali Raji, Member of the Meshrano Jirga speaking on the occasion drew the attention of the Prime Minister to the delay in clearance of goods at Karachi seaport destined for Kabul. Another member of the Afghan delegation welcomed the proposal of Pakistan to convene Ulema conference between the two countries and suggested that interaction of academia, media and other sections of the society should also be encouraged for better understanding between the two countries.

Raja Pervez Ashraf assured the Afghan delegation that he will look into the complaint regarding delay in clearance of Afghan goods at Karachi seaport and welcomed the proposal for interaction of all sections of the society of the two countries. Faisal Karim Kundi, Acting Speaker National Assembly, Mir Israrullah Zehri, Minister for National Food Security & Research, Dr M Farooq Sattar, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Senator Abbas Afridi, Minister of State for Commerce, Senator Jahangir Badr, Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel and other senior officials were also present.-PR
